The Big Peace March
March 15, 2008 - San Rafael

The Big Peace March in San Rafael was an amazing success. 400 people of all ages gathered to stand for peace in Iraq on the 5 year anniversary of the invasion. We stood united for peace with positivity, creativity, inspiration and heart.

“It was everything needed to pull more people into the streets: organized, rapid, original, talented, big-picture smart, varied, cheerful, fierce, young, old, honest, and melodious!” - Megan Matson

“It was a wonderful day. Your speakers, to a person, were full of passion, heart and peace. I loved it.”
- Maureen Parton

"The Big Peace March generated significant media coverage, including two Marin IJ articles, two KPFA radio spots, and two appearances on KTVU Channel 2, the local Fox affiliate."

The Big Peace March was made possible by the dedication and energy of a lot of people. Huge thanks to everyone in the Peace Action Group, and to all of the march’s co-sponsors for their efforts in spreading the word: Marin Peace and Justice Coalition, Marin County Youth Commission, Mill Valley Seniors for Peace, Gray Panthers of Marin, CODEPINK Women for Peace, Marin Friends Meeting, and the Agape Foundation.

Also many thanks to everyone who dedicated time, equipment or food for the cause: Sol Food for two amazing dinners; Falafel Hut for our volunteer lunch; the Good Earth in Fairfax; musicians Gentry Bronson and Jesse Brewster for providing their sound equipment and expertise; Jeff, Matt and the Monophonics for great music throughout the day; our amazing speakers; our co-emcee Megan Matson; and everyone who donated their time on the day of or leading up to the march: Heather, Spokey, Rosie, Patrick, Bodhi, Aghaghia, Ellis, Denielle, Aaron, Frank, Jimmy, Deb, Ellen, Lily, Will and Jared!

Once again, thank you for all you do as we stand united for peace.
